Kairos Publishing House

Kairos is a Roman Catholic publishing house run by the Dominican Order in Ukraine. We specialise in publishing philosophical, theological, and Christian spiritual literature by classical and contemporary authors, both Ukrainian and foreign. It has been publishing books of a scientific, evangelistic and educational nature for 27 years. The purpose of the publishing house is to publish high-quality intellectual texts, build a platform for dialogue, and help our readers develop comprehensively.

Kairos Publishing House (Greek for “gracious time”) was founded in 1993 at St Thomas Aquinas Kyiv College of Catholic Theology (now –St Thomas Aquinas Institute of Religious Studies in Kyiv). By his decree dd. November 23, 1993, Jan Purwiński, an ordinary bishop of Kyiv and Zhytomyr, granted the Institute publishing rights. On January 19, 1994, the publishing house was transferred to the Order of Preachers. Therefore, Kairos’ activities are inextricably linked to the Dominican Charism.

The publishing house prepares books on philosophy, theology, Christian psychology and spirituality in Ukrainian and Polish for publication. Kairos’ publications include world classics of philosophy and theology, works of contemporary Ukrainian and European authors, as well as encyclicals of the Roman Pontiffs, Church documents, etc.

The mission of Kairos Publishing House can be represented by the three mottos of the Dominican Order:

• Veritas (Latin for “truth”) – to teach and proclaim the truth always and everywhere.
• Laudare, Benedicere, Predicare (to Praise, to Bless, to Preach) – to bring the Word of God to every person.
• Contemplata aliis trader (to hand down to others the fruits of contemplation) – to share experience and knowledge.
